Governor Newsom signed 3 bills that CCRC Government Relations sponsored and supported through the legislative year. The bills included: SB 1112 (Menjivar) which will allow programs to utilize funds to support developmental screenings; AB 2343 (Schiavo) which creates referral pathways for families experiencing homelessness to access stable child care; and AB 1930 (Reyes) which removes restrictions on the Associate Teacher permit.
In the State Budget, CCRC worked in partnership with our ECE Coalition partners to avert proposed cuts to child care spaces in the Governor’s May Revise proposal. The Budget agreement included keeping the promise of funding 200,000 child care spaces by 2028 and continued funding to the Emergency Child Care Bridge Program for Foster Children and the CalWORKs Home Visiting Program.
